Speakers Bio

Speaker 1: Malek Abboud - Zaatar Road

Business developer with a background in Economics and Finance.
Supplier Manager at Za’atar Road LLC, www.zaatar-road.com, an e-commerce platform delivering products from Lebanon to the North American Market. He was able to on-board more than 35 Lebanese Artisans since June 2021, offering a wide variety of authentic Lebanese food products, soaps and beauty products as well as arts and crafts.

Speaker 2: Valerie Zakka - Zakka Technologies

Provider of processing and packaging equipment for the agro-food industries.

"Born into the world of packaging machinery, Valerie developed since an early age a love for industry and trade, working alongside her late father for many years learning the challenges and requirements of serving customers in the various industrial fields. Today she is managing her own company Zakka Technologies, offering innovative packaging and processing solutions as well as technical service, always finding ways to bring greater value to thecustomers in an increasingly competitive marketplace. She loves Lebanon, languages, travelling and connecting with people.

Speaker 3: Marc Bou Zeidan - QOOT

QOOT Cluster Manager

Marc Bou Zeidan has joined Berytech as QOOT Cluster Manager in March 2022. His main mission is to implement the three pillars of QOOT Cluster strategy which are: innovation for agri-food SMEs readiness, innovation for agri-food SMEs competitiveness and innovation for agri-food SMEs internationalization.

Marc is an agricultural engineer and holds a Ph.D. in food microbiology and biotechnology. He has more than ten years of experience in research and academics and published eight peer-reviewed scientific articles.

Marc has been involved in the agri-food industry as a technical consultant for several years in fermented food production of dairy, alcoholic beverages and other sectors, focusing on R&D and innovation processes. He has also developed several vocational training curricula and trained many trainers on topics related to sustainable food value chains.

In 2017, Marc has co-founded Elmir Brewing Company, a high-end craft brewery that has been awarded several global awards for its innovative “Produits de Terroir” categories.

Marc is a nature lover and grabs every opportunity for outdoor activities such as hiking, climbing and camping.

Speaker 4: Elie Youssef - Root8 (Food Startup Consultant)

Elie is a Social Entrepreneur, Expert in Business Startups, Brand Management, Sales & Marketing, Branding and Advertising, CSR and Fundraising

Has managed several brands in the MENA network in FMCG, Para-pharmacy, Sports, Outdoor, and Toys. His involvement in different NGOs has earned him the opportunity to work with the local community to organize and set up scores of award-winning projects to enhance the lives of hundreds of families. Also worked during the past 4 years on spreading awareness of the importance of urban farming, empowered home-based food businesses, trained and upscaled the work of a number of rural cooperatives throughout the country, developed several F&B brands, and expanded the export channel for several Lebanese enterprises and startups.

Speaker 5: Joseph Chlala - Lebzone

Joseph comes from a management and design background having spent most of hisworking life as a expat. From forming several companies from design and Contracting to web development and hospitality hisexperience ranges in the business development field for over 12 years in the MENA region.
Lebzone is an online marketplace specialized in selling Lebanese made products worldwide. Our mission is to push the economy forward through these hard times where export is vital. Theyalso push on showcasing the Lebanese Mediterranean touch of products we have giving our community a chance of selling on a large scale worldwide and competing with multinationals.

Randa has an extensive track record in HR Management and Recruitment across multinationals in various industries. Her practical expertise is supported by her degrees in HR Management, Organizational Psychology & Business Advertising and Marketing. Her specialization is Happiness at Work, Stress and Wellness.
In addition to being a corporate trainer, Randa has been an instructor at USJ for over 10 years in HR Management & Organizational Psychology Courses for Master students & recently started teaching also at ALBA.
Randa is an international speaker, sharing her passion for HR, Happiness at Work & Soft Skills at conferences & trainings across Europe, The Gulf and the Middle East.
