Lebanon's Revolution: Successes, Failures & Lessons Learned - Free Online Interactive Panel Discussion by I Have Learned Academy In Collaboration with the German Foundation: KAS - Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Lebanon office
17 October 2019 was a day like no other in Lebanon as it was the start of a scream from Lebanon to the world: The Thawra started or Lebanon's Revolution.
A series of civil protests took place in Lebanon over many weeks and months. These national protests were triggered by planned taxes but quickly expanded into a country-wide condemnation of the failure of the government to provide basic services such as electricity, water, infrastructure, but also the stagnant economy, banking system failure, currency devaluation and unemployment.
While the revolution achieved many milestones, there is still a lot to do, and the objectives are not fully met.
Where and why did the revolution succeed or fail and what are the lessons learned?
Join this panel discussion to debate the above!
In this panel, we will host:
- Hassan Sinno - LNA
- Susan Serbey - Pyramid
- Pierre Issa - Bloc National
- Samir Saliba - ACT
- Rula El Halabi - Independent Activist
- Nancy Stephan Jabra - The Lebanese Diaspora Network
