Oil & Gas in Lebanon: Everything you need to know - Free Online Interactive Session by I Have Learned Academy - In Collaboration with KAS - Konrad Adenauer Stiftung German organization in Beirut
Since officially launching the oil and gas sector in 2010, Lebanon has been placing a lot of its hope on the oil and gas sector and politicians have been advertising our not-yet-found natural resources as the magic remedy that will save Lebanon from the depths of its economic and fiscal despairs. Is the oil and gas sector Lebanon's savior? What are the real opportunities and threats associated with the development of this sector?
- The outline of the main points to be discussed (in bullet points):
Trainer Bio

During the past 3 years I help establish LOGI and turn it into the leading organization on energy governance in Lebanon. Its diverse partners’ base allow us receive financial support to work on the following pillars: Legal framework development of the energy sector, fiscal terms assessment and enhancement, local content development (including employment issues), enhancing the role of civil society organizations in global transparency initiatives (EITI), strengthening the role of State (parliament and regulatory authority) and none State oversight actors in the energy sector.
Between 2012 and mid-2017, Diana served as regional coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa, and Asia Pacific at Publish What You Pay organization, a global network that includes more than 800 civil society organizations advocating for transparency and accountability in the governance of natural resources. During her 6 years at PWYP, she worked with diverse civil society organizations across MENA and Asia Pacific, supporting them to collectively impact how their natural resources are managed. Policy development, designing and launching advocacy campaigns, tactics and strategizing, contract understanding, participatory approaches to ensure democratic and inclusive management of natural resources, as well as developing communication strategies, were among the topics I helped civil society organizations develop their capacities on.
